Let’s face it, the honeybees are the real celebrities here. Our honey products, including raw honey, raw comb honey, and raw bee butter, are the flagship products of Firefly Fields. Our bees forage on a diversity of organic blooms and wild hedgerows that are always close in proximity to the hives, as nearly 1/3 of our total farmland each year is dedicated to nectar resources. We have buckwheat, red clover and thistle, sunflower, basswood, dutch white clover, goldenrod, and other nectar resources available for the bees. Notice all the honey varietals we collect across one single farmscape. This diversity in color and flavor represents the diversified, organic landscape in which the bees live and forage. Bottom line, these bees are an intricate partner in the Jennings Family Farm food system, and the flavors they share with us from the landscape are phenomenal.
We never treat our hives with synthetic pesticides or chemicals. Our bees have a history of low disease and pest pressure over many years, which we partially attribute to the abundant organic resources and our approach to hive management. We bring a unique blend of research expertise and beekeeping experience, having worked with some of the countries leading scientists, beekeepers, and farmers. We take great pride in our honey and are grateful for the opportunity to bring something we love so much to your door!
