We’re so happy to release a new product family to the website, Organic Hard Red Spring Wheat! This is something that we’ve sold for the past few years locally and we received great feedback. Our organic hard red wheat is available as either raw berries or stone-milled flour, in 1.5-, 2.5-, and 5-pound quantities.
The raw hard red spring wheat berries are great for those with their own milling capabilities as the berries can be ground into a protein-rich flour that is great for sourdough, breads, bagels, biscuits, and more. Wheat berries can also be cooked, whole or cracked, as a nutritious addition to salads, skillets, and soups.
Our stone-milled hard red spring wheat flour is a whole flour, retaining all of the bran, germ, and endosperm from the original kernel. It is a wonderful addition to sourdough starters or use it in your favorite bread, pizza crust, bagel, biscuits, or bread roll recipes. Also, our hard red spring wheat is full of delicious, nutty flavor that adds another dimension to your baking recipes. Each bag of flour comes fresh and ready for all of your baking adventures!
As with all whole grains, berries should be stored in a cool, dry place and flour should be stored in the refrigerator or frozen between uses to maintain freshness.
