Firefly Fields is a three generation, USDA Certified Organic and Bee Friendly Certified farm established by Archie and Mattie Jennings Family in 1979. With much grit, love, and character, we grow, harvest, and provide (from seed to table) delicious, wholesome specialty and certified organic foods that are produced on the farm’s 450 acres of diversified, organic landscape in southwestern Michigan.
‘Taste the Landscape’
We grow and market a variety of raw honeys, certified organic beans, multiple whole grains and freshly milled flour (from an > 110 year old French Burr Stone!). Here you can fill your pantry with wholesome, raw, nutrient dense foods directly from our family to yours all across North America.
We hold ourselves to the highest standards, and in order to ensure those standards are met for you we do not purchase any outside products to fill orders and sell only the amount in which the farm will provide. We believe wholesome, delicious, and healthy foods make for healthy people, and all are a product of healthy environments and healthy food systems.
Why ‘Firefly Fields?‘ As you glance across the summer night skies, we see the fields take a light as the fireflies begin their flight. Fireflies flickering across the night skies represent more to us than just bioluminescent awe and wonder. For a variety of reasons, Firefly populations are declining worldwide, and land-use change is a major contributor. The abundant presence of Lampyridae (the family of Fireflies) is a bioindicator of healthy environments. Good land stewardship practices will support thriving Firefly populations for generations to come, lighting the way for those to follow. We believe smaller, organic Family Farms are a pathway back to better land stewardship that results not only in healthy food for people, but also healthy environments for all beings.
We hope you feel the same and look forward to providing you with organic food products and raw honeys as you make the healthy choice, for you, your family, the environment, and the entire community that we’re all a part of. One Farm, One Family – We are Firefly Fields.
